Bootleg is a film set in 2004 Brooklyn. It follows two young men (Ismaila and Ibrahima) as they sell bootleg CDs from their car. Yanelly, a single mom on her way to work at a grocery store, walks past, and Ismaila just can’t look away. This is just the first few minutes of a proof of concept film, which hopefully one day has the ability to become a feature film.
Working with a budget of just $300, I sourced and styled more than 24 complete looks for the film, including authentic vintage pieces from 2004. By combining thrifted finds, vintage garments, and strategic sourcing, I was able to build a cohesive wardrobe that enhanced the film's authenticity without exceeding budget constraints.
